Current situation of the #COVID19 is reminding us that we are all equal, regardless of our culture, religion, occupation, financial situation or how famous we are. This disease treats us all equally; perhaps we should ask our, “What are we doing for others.” We must check with our neighbors and community if they require our support during this crucial time. It is reminding us that we are all connected and something that affects one person has an effect on another. It is reminding us that the false borders that we have put up have little value as this virus does not need a passport. It is reminding us, by oppressing us for a short time, of those in this world whose whole life is spent in oppression.

“Life most persistent and urgent question is what are you doing for others.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

We highly appreciate and salute to all our frontline medical staff who are our real heroes like Doctors, Nursing Staff, Paramedics, Receptionists on Medical facilities, Screeners, Lab Staff etc but I personally think that we have many more heroes especially those all volunteering and working with the Charity Organizations. All these volunteers serving humanity by handover groceries, serving meals to the homeless, prepare lunch boxes to seniors and those have mental health issues.

Recently, one of Connecting GTA family member Azhar Khan visited MWC (Food bank) to serve them as volunteer. He not only work as volunteer but motivate other volunteers, shared the technique of (KAN BAN – Supply Chain Process) to improve the delivery process after observed  the complete process of picking, packing and delivering the groceries to the people who need our support.

With the collaboration of MWC and Durham Catering Services, they are preparing the meals, packing in the lunch boxes and serving to the Warmer Centre Ajax, homeless people and seniors in the Durham Region. During delivering the food boxes they make sure that they keep all the safety precautions and do not have any close contact to the recipient. There are many volunteers supporting this great cause and Connecting GTA family always stands with them on all these community projects.

The current situation reminding us of how precious our health is and how we have moved to neglect it through eating nutrient poor manufactured food and drinking water that is contaminated. It is remind us the shortness of life and what is most important for us to do, which is to help each other, especially those who are old or sick. Our seniors are our asset with full of knowledge and experience. It’s time to listen stories from our seniors and get the lesson of life; “How to serve others better.”

“Great leaders don’t tell you what to do. They show you how it’s done.” It’s great that many youth of our community not only coached by him but follow-up charity work to learn the leadership skills. We are very thankful to MWC serving the groceries to the needy people since last 27 years. Durham Catering Services continuously helping Homeless & Seniors in the Durham Region by serving the FREE meal in the lunch boxes.

We need more people and volunteers to support needful families; those need our support during this critical time and empathy. Connecting GTA always encouraged their all members to Collaborate each other, Inspire community by your work and Lead people by example.
