Shangri-La's Hambantota Golf Resort and Spa, Sri Lanka (A Top 100 Golf Course) Provide golf instructions/lessons to members and hotel guests 7 days a week. Assist in “Rules of Golf” and training of staff and Caddies. Run all golf tournaments from planning to presentation of tournament. Direct golf tournament and assist/guide tournament committee to set rules and explain local rules. Strategies with course Marshals on execution of a smooth tournament, shot gun or otherwise. Schedule times for refreshments and assign Pro-Shop and F&B staff to implement refreshment stations on course. Work with greens staff to adjust yardage to comply with customer request specific to tournament. Set-up “Closest to Pin” and “Longest Drive” competition holes, set up trophy table and all other specific customer requests to provide a pleasant experience to customers. Liaise with Course Superintendent, Hotel GM, F&B, Banquet and Sales staff on all operations of golf related activities, including daily “Chip and Putt” competition for hotel guests. Overall, it was my responsibility to provide an above “Five Star” experience to all members and hotel guests and promote golf as sport and a recreation in this part of the world where golf is at its infancy. The course and the facility entered the fame of “Top 100 Golf Courses in the World” in 2018.
